What are disulfide bonds?

Each hair strand is a chain of keratin proteins, linked by bridges called disulfide bonds. Hair has millions of them. Bleaching, perming, and excessive heat break these bridges. Do you actually need one?

If your hair is virgin (never colored or chemically treated), you don't need a bond-builder — a good conditioner suffices. If you color, bleach, or heat-style regularly, a bond-builder is genuinely worth it. Ask for it to be added during your next color service — it significantly reduces damage.

Salon vs at-home
